My Spring News

Well, I have to tell you that I am feeling quite upbeat and positive about this year!  I have this huge feeling that this year is going to be fabulous and full of wonderful new things.  At the moment I am saving my pennies hard in order to start a life-coaching course in the next few months (watch this space), and if this were not enough, my friend Jacqueline and I have vowed to do 'A' Level Psychology in September!  We did our Cert.Ed. together in 2008 and enjoyed the psychology aspect of it so much, we have decided to go back for more!

The other thing that I have noticed is the number of people signing up for courses this year.  I have to be honest and say that it does feel as though there is optimism in the air...I even heard on the television a couple of nights ago that the government has officially decided that the recession is over!  I personally also feel that the Universe is working to help people to help themselves.  I feel that we no longer look solely to others to make us feel well and good about ourselves and that generally we are more pro-active in wanting to do things to heal ourselves.  There seem to be more people wanting to learn Reiki in order to make themselves and their families feel better physically, and EFT in order to ease their minds and emotions.  I have been seeing an increase in people wanting to learn to meditate to combat stress and find out how to do Hopi Ear Candling to use on their partners and children.  These skills are tools in our tool kits, that can be dipped into when we need them....did you know that Reiki self-healing can be used to combat insomnia and help you sleep better and EFT can be used to take away nerves before a meeting or an exam?

I was also pleasantly surprised at how many people turned up the first Reiki Retreat Day of this year.  It was wonderful!  We performed an opening and closing meditation, made Dream Stars, drank lots of tea, ate lots of biscuits (although not enough, as my husband and I were eating them for days afterwards...what a hardship!) and most people got the chance to either give or receive a Reiki treatment.  On the agenda for the next meeting (probably 8th May, although the date is still being debated) is a talk on smudging, a guided meditation and a talk on psychometry.  Once again there will also be the chance to give and receive Reiki treatments and we will be making something 'crafty' again, although I am not sure what exactly at this moment as I haven't had a moment to sit down and think about it, so suggestions please:-)

With Love and Light,

Cherri

Please Postpone Your Appointment if you are Ill!

Please do NOT attend for your appointment if you have a cold, flu, virus or are ill!  The reason for this is because I do not want to risk cross-contamination, i.e. passing your cold through me to another client.  I am being tough this spring and saying "NO"!  My regular clients will already have noticed that I am asking them to rub anti-bacterial hand gel into their hands when they come through the door and I really appreciate your cooperation in doing this - you are all fabulous!

There is another reason for not having a treatment when you are ill and this is because your healing reaction can be stronger.  A healing reaction is simply that - it is your body's way of taking on board the healing you have received during a treatment.  Also, after a treatment your body will be detoxing itself and if you are ill this process will be more intense.  A normal healing reaction, if you have one (and if you don't that is fine too), can take the form of having a headache or feeling a little 'coldy' or under the weather.  So if you are ill and have a treatment, your healing reaction could be stronger and more uncomfortable.  Some people feel energised and euphoric after a treatment, but this reaction seldom occurs if you have a treatment whilst ill.

One or two clients have attended for their treatment lately full of cold and have been disappointed when I sent them home again.  After explaining about the healing reaction, their response was that they wanted a treatment in order to bring out their cold!  Unfortunately a healing reaction does not work in this way and the chances are that they would have felt much, much worse and very probably not felt up to going to work the next day!

So on this occasion I am going to say "trust me, I'm a therapist" when I say that having a treatment whilst ill is not good for you.  Wait a couple of days until you are better and then come back to see me, you will get far more out of your treatment if you have it when you have recovered!  You will not be charged if you cancel on the day of your appointment if you are genuinely ill:-)  I want you to spend your money wisely and make you feel better, not worse!

I wish you a happy and very healthy spring:)
